THOKO KAIME

Dr Thoko Kaime, Research Fellow, is Lecturer in law in the School of Law at the University of Leicester and Senior Teaching Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He was previously Lecturer in Law and Deputy Director of the Environmental Regulatory Research Group at the University of Surrey. Thoko maintains broad interests in the area of public international law and the social critique of law and legal policy. He has written extensively on human rights and sustainability governance, focusing on the intersection between law and legitimacy. Thoko is currently involved in research investigating the linkages between international environmental governance architectures and access to natural resources including access to water and the realisation of sustainable energy for all.
Thoko is a founding member of the Law Environment and Development Centre at the School of Oriental and African Studies and co-Chair of the Community of Practice on Legal Aspects of Sustainable Access to Energy. He also serves as an Associate Editor of the Malawi Law Journal and the Law Environment and Development Journal.
